  1. Students may use the Open Lab, Editing Lab, or Audio/Video studios at any time the school is open and there isn't a class attending the lab. The school is open weekdays from 7:30 AM - 10:30 PM and Saturdays 8 AM - 5 PM.
  2. The Service Bureau Employees are there to help during lab hours. They cannot take extensive amounts of time to teach software and hardware to students. They cannot do the students work for them.
  3. No eating or drinking is permitted in the Computer, Photo, Audio, or Video labs. Please do not touch the screens of our LCD monitors.
  4. You may not violate software license agreements by making unauthorized copies of computer software or loading unauthorized copies onto AILV computers. Discount software is available through www.aistudentstore.com and saytek.com Ask the service bureau for more information.
  5. The open lab is not an Internet cafe and is not a LAN party. Students playing games not associated with game design class will be asked to leave the lab.
  6. Please use headphones when playing sound, unless you have a teacher's permission to play sound out loud in class.
  7. You may not send email messages that include pornography, profanity, discriminatory or derogatory language or remarks.
  8. You may not use profanity, discriminatory/derogatory language, or remarks as file/directory names.
  9. You may not broadcast messages of personal statements regarding private issues. Political, religious, controversial, or messages designed to incite violence or dissention are prohibited.
  10. You may not use college facilities for pornography, spamming, sending chain letters, or for pranks.
  11. Loud, disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Loud and disruptive students will be asked to leave the lab by employees and security.
  12. You may not use college facilities for personal business or for illegal activities.
  13. You may not use web access to visit sites that are not directly related to academic development or classroom assignments.
  14. Before leaving the lab, all students must neaten up their work area. Please be courteous and respectful of who will be using the work area after you.


Who Can Use Computer Labs

Full and Part Time Students

Full and part-time students are welcome to use the computer labs during normal college hours. Students must have a valid college ID to utilize technology resources, and IDs must be visible at all times while at the college. For your safety and the protection of our machines, if you see a non-student in our labs, pleaes report immediately to security at ext. 8566.
Alumni
The Art Institute of Las Vegas supports alumni of AI schools in their effort to improve and update their portfolios and resumes. Alumni kare considered guests at the college and are required to register with Security.
Alumni who wish to use the computer labs must first submit a written request, including purpose, description of the work to be performed, time frame, and computer equipment needed. this request must be approved by the Director of Career Services before access to labs is granted.
Alumni must adhere to the policies established in this lab handbook. Our computers are not to be used for "freelance" jobs. Our machines and software are inteded for educational use only. Due to the volume of students enrolled in classes, currently enrolled students will be given priorityh access to equipment at the discretion of the college. Alumni are not allowed access during the last two weeks of each quarter.
